Description

Nightmare Time was a series of musical comedy livestreams by LA-based theatre company Starkid Productions. Pre-COVID, they only staged traditional live theatre, but during the pandemic they began this series of three "episodes" that aired in October of 2020. These streams were mostly live, with intermittent songs that were pre-recorded and edited in the style of music videos. The "episodes" follow different stand-alone narratives featuring characters from their two most recent productions at the time, The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals (2018) and Black Friday (2019), that were part of a wider story. The first episode was streamed directly to YouTube and the second and third episodes were ticketed, and digital attendees were given access to the livestream via a link. In February 2021 these second and third episodes were added to their YouTube channel, as the company have recorded and posted all their productions since their first show, in 2009. A second season was produced in October and November 2021.
