Romeo & Juliet in JW Sweetman

This was an adaptation of Romeo & Juliet that took place entirely within the basement bar at J.W. Sweetman (now J.R. Mahon's) on Burgh Quay. Some friends of mine from Bow Street were in the cast. Scenes from the play began spontaneously throughout the location, and the audience was free to move about and sit/stand wherever they liked. All of the action of the play was compressed and restricted to a single location, so the entire story played out in real-time, with actors emerging from the audience and reintegrating back into it when not required by the current scene.

Back to the Moon: Celebrating Georges Méliès

The Google Doodle, Google Spotlight Stories, Google Arts & Culture, & Cinémathèque Française teams have collaborated to create the first-ever Virtual Reality (VR) / 360° interactive Doodle to celebrate the life and artistry of French illusionist and film director Georges Méliès. Produced by Nexus Studios.

"My friends, I address you all tonight as you truly are; wizards, mermaids, travelers, adventurers, magicians... Come and dream with me."

—Georges Méliès

Good Sex

‘I MAKE SEX REALISTIC. NOT REAL. IT’S ALL CHOREOGRAPHY.’

How do you have sex on stage? How do you even have sex?

To try and find an answer, each night, two brand new performers tell a story of desire, betrayal, and loneliness. They have never rehearsed together or read the script. They are strangers.

But they are not alone — to help and guide them they are joined on stage by an Intimacy Director, trained in the art of teaching people how to touch. So you can rest assured that the sex is safe. It is consensual. And it is good.

Follow characters’ interlocking fates as all journeys forward must turn back or become lost.

Come Live With Me Angel

This was an installation style piece performed in Michaelmas 2 2022 in DUPlayers. It was performed in the dressing room in the Players building, the small space being used to represent a small apartment in Dublin. Audience members were immersed completely in the scene as they played characters/people attending an art class in the 'apartment'. The actors directly interacted with the audience members.

ZOONOSIS

Pets love a pandemic (mostly). Dogs never get to have their humans at home with them so much. Maybe the cats are secretly wishing everyone would go back to work. But our intersections with other animals and plants are not so simple. ZOONOSIS takes a sideways look at how the pandemic has impacted our fellow species on earth.
