Pumpitopera Transatlantica

The story of the Greek hero, Odysseus, and his long journey home was passed down to us in a poem by Homer – The Odyssey. Today, the word odyssey evokes an arduous journey for any person. But where do you go back to when you have no home? MEXA is a collective founded in 2015 following outbreaks of violence in so-called homeless shelters in São Paulo. For several years, they have been working out of Casa do Povo (House of the People), a revolutionary Jewish cultural centre founded in São Paulo in 1946 to promote values of radical solidarity.

Katy Perry - Daises performance

Katy Perry's 2020 performance of her song Daises on American Idol uses extended reality and was a significant event in television due to its extensive use of many different shapes and angles. It was made during peak COVID-19 and so it was not viewed by a live audience. They used motion-graphic content and camera tracking in order to achieve this VR look. 

PAAR

Paar is a VR dance film split between a physical and virtual world. Filmed in the historic GDR-era Tieranatomisches Theater (TAT) at Berlin Charité hospital, Paar uses 360 video together with motion capture technology to follow a journey of discovery between linked bodies and theaters.

Gumball Dreams

Gumball Dreams is a guided virtual reality theater experience with a live actor designed for three audience members. Each show runs approx. 60 minutes long.

Winner of the SXSW Audience Award XR Experience Competition, the show had its international premiere at the prestigious 79th International Venice Film Festival and its Asia premiere at the Kaohsiung Film Festival.

Artist Lu Yang reincarnated as “Doku” into a digital parallel universe. Without the constraints of time and space, being free from the shackles of physical needs and identity, Doku is born to explore the secret of human mind and the intention of the universe.

Current Rising

On 21 May 2021 the Royal Opera House released the world’s first opera in hyper reality: Current, Rising – a unique collaboration between the Royal Opera House’s innovation programme, Audience Labs and Figment Productions, with audience insight research undertaken by Royal Holloway, University of London. The project was funded by Innovate UK and Figment Productions as part of the “Audience of the Future” programme.
