An Oak Tree is a two-hander, with the Hypnotist being played by Tim Crouch. The Father, however, is played by a different guest actor at each performance. They walk on stage having neither seen nor read a word of the play they’re in… until they’re in it. This was an adaptation of Romeo & Juliet that took place entirely within the basement bar at J.W. Sweetman (now J.R. Mahon's) on Burgh Quay. Some friends of mine from Bow Street were in the cast. Scenes from the play began spontaneously throughout the location, and the audience was free to move about and sit/stand wherever they liked. All of the action of the play was compressed and restricted to a single location, so the entire story played out in real-time, with actors emerging from the audience and reintegrating back into it when not required by the current scene.

Weaving theatrical storytelling with new forms of technology, the individual immersive experience allows the audience member to take the part of the protagonist, Jordan, inside a live, animated world.

The Void’s Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire was an immersive virtual reality experience that placed visitors inside the Star Wars universe. A clever wireless rig allowed guests to freely roam a large virtual space that is mapped onto a physical maze so that they could actually reach out and touch objects such as buttons, walls, seats, and droids. 

A theatrical installation in which Manchán invites you to adopt an Irish word in order to breathe life into it.

In Gaeilge Tamagotchi Manchan invites you to adopt an Irish word. Participants wind through a labyrinth of 30m of raw Irish linen to receive an endangered Irish word from the artist, which they agree to nurture, nourish and take guardianship of. They each receive a word unique to them and are given the opportunity to print or paint their word on stone, oak-wood, or linen as a ritualistic covenant.

Sleep No More has won a Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience and a Special Citation For Design And Choreography at the Obie Awards.

This was an installation style piece performed in Michaelmas 2 2022 in DUPlayers. It was performed in the dressing room in the Players building, the small space being used to represent a small apartment in Dublin. Audience members were immersed completely in the scene as they played characters/people attending an art class in the 'apartment'. The actors directly interacted with the audience members.
